Ernst Mayr Award
The Ernst Mayr Award is the Society of Systematic Biologists' premier award, and is given to the presenter of the outstanding student talk in the field of systematics at the annual meetings of the Society of Systematic Biologists (SSB). This award is judged by the quality and creativity of the research completed over the course of the student's Ph.D. program. The award consists of $1000, a certificate of distinction, and a two-year subscription to the journal Systematic Biology. Presidents' Award for Lifetime Achievement
The Presidents' Award for Lifetime Achievement is given to a person who has made outstanding and sustained contributions to the field over the course of many years. The recipient is selected by the three Presidents of the Society (President, President-Elect, and Past President). The interval between presentations of this award must be at least three years. Graduate Student ResearchGraduate student research awards (GSRAs) assist students in the initiation of their systematics projects and in the collection of preliminary data to pursue additional sources of support (e.g., Doctoral Dissertation Improvement Grants from the National Science Foundation) or to enhance dissertation research (e.g., by visiting additional field collection sites or museums). Mini-ARTS The Mini-ARTS awards are designed to allow SSB members (students, post-docs, and faculty) to spend a summer or semester apprenticed to an expert in a particular taxonomic group or to enhance revisionary taxonomic and systematics research in novel ways. Publisher's AwardThe award is presented to the two best papers based on student research published in Systematic Biology during the previous year.
